I specialize in Contemplative Psychotherapy, a practice that combines Eastern traditions of mental health care with Western approaches. I studied this modality at Naropa University in Boulder, CO and earned my Masters of Arts in 2013. My interest in this field of care was inspired by my experiences at the University of Washington and a study abroad program I completed in the Himalayas.
My career in psychotherapy began with a focus on counseling children, teens, families and parents. I have experience in play therapy and parent coaching, as well as providing counseling services to court-ordered adults in substance related treatment. In addition, I have cared for and lived with young adults and adults with developmental disabilities. My work with this population has informed my approach to counseling, and I have trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy.
At the core of my approach is a belief in the power of love, mindfulness, and change. I strive to create a safe, supportive and growth-oriented environment for my clients. I believe that, with the right tools, we can all make progress on our individual journeys towards mental health and wellbeing.
